Please join the Edith Wharton Society for its upcoming conference marking the centennial anniversary of the publication of Edith Wharton’s Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, The Age of Innocence. We will celebrate this momentous year in New York, the setting not only of so many of Wharton’s works but also of much of her life.

Events

Planned events, all of which are included in the conference registration fee:

  • A plated luncheon
  • A keynote address, “Newland Archer’s New York,” by Francis Morrone (Architectural Historian, NYU)
  • Edith Wharton’s Poetry, a reading by Irene Goldman-Price
  • A featured roundtable presentation, “Glancing Backward and Forward,” followed by a showcase of Wharton scholarship
  • A staged reading of The Bunner Sisters

Accommodations and Travel

Check-in available beginning Wednesday evening, June 17th. The conference panels will begin the morning of Thursday the 18th and continue Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th. The walking tours are tentatively set for Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

All conference events will be held at the New Yorker Hotel. The New Yorker is just two blocks from Penn Station subway and has easy access to restaurants, shops, and sightseeing. As we get closer to the event, we will send out maps and recommendations for restaurants and cafes in the area.
